187 cRew brought the pain down to Rock Hill this weekend at the PSP Mid Atlantic Open beating Arsenal Predators in the finals 5 to 4. The Hurricanes also stepped up their game defeating New Jersey Jesters to take 3rd in the finals, showing how much they have improved since their disappointing finish at the Chicago Open. Coach/Owner Jeff Stein of the New England Hurricanes had this to say on PbNation.
"Chicago was a disappointment, to say the least. But it was also an eye opener for us. Maybe it told us that if we want a legacy for this team and for these players, we will have to build that legacy, for this team and for these players. Maybe it showed us that just wearing a Hurricane jersey won't be enough to be successful. Being a part of the team isn't the end game; it's the first step, and nothing more. And I am sure that there were fans and industry types out there who saw Chicago's result and said, "this is the beginning of the end".
So maybe it is especially fitting that our exile from the Sunday club ends here, at MAO, with the new players being coached and supported by the old ones. Rob Landry, Dan Savoie & Thomas Mantoni have all been coaching us this event, plus all the help we've gotten at practices from Billy and Tim Maher. But this isn't their show anymore, they aren't at center stage. That belongs to the new guys, to the former Ducks and Riptide and Warzone and 187 and NEX players who are now the Hurricanes. But, regardless of who is in the spotlight, it seems that it took both the new and the old to get us back to Sunday."
