NEPL B.O.N.E. Cup Wrap Up

2010 was a big year for the NEPL.  We saw a lot of things happen that you just don't see that often..  We saw the introduction of XBall into the NEPL, as well as an Open Pump division, as well as the return of the New England Hurricanes.  This last event of 2010 saw some of the best paintball we have seen this year.  In NEXL Boston Bloodline went 15-0 in the preliminary games for the first time all year moving into the semi finals in first place followed by the Hurricanes, Team No Name, and 187 cRew.  Bloodline would draw 187 in the semi finals, only the second time the two teams would meet this year since the Matt's Outback Summer League finale, where 187 defeated Bloodline 4-1.  Bloodline took a surprising early lead going up 3-0 early in the match, but 187 cRew battled back with 4 unanswered points winning 4-3 in the final minute of the game.  The Hurricanes faced off against Team No Name in a white knuckle head to head battle that ended in the Hurricanes favor 5-4.  Finally two of the best teams in New England met in the finals which ended in 187 cRew's favor.  The game ended 3-2 and went to time.  187 cRew was the only team this year to take the XBall title from the Hurricanes.  The Hurricanes however did end up the overall winners of the series.

In the 7Man division, Boston Armada went undefeated in the prelims, following them were the Hurricanes (4-2), NE Synergy (4-2), and Identity-Creed (3-3).  In the round robin finals; Armada, Synergy, and Identity-Creed all went 1-2, while the Hurricanes won all three of their finals games.  They would go on to win their 4th 7Man NEPL event of the season and stay on top of the overall standings.

In 5Man, Liberty's Minutemen went 8-0 in the prelims, they were followed by Machine (7-1), Ballz Deep (6-1-1), and RONHIC (6-2).  Liberty's Minutemen and Ballz Deep would both go 2-1 in the round robin finals, but Liberties Minutemen ended up on by getting the first flag pull in their loss to Ballz Deep, winning by just 28 points.  3rd and 4th place were taken by RONHIC and Machine respectively.

Finally in the 3Man rookie division The Fighting Mongoose won for the 4th time this season, beating out Silent Nightmare Young Guns, Crypt Keepers, and Ballistix in the round robin finals.
